The 12 watt PIR bulb does the same job as our 9 watt one with more light: 1100 lumens of 5000K daylight from a standard A19 shape and E26 base. It needs no wiring beyond the socket you already have.
Its light sensor holds the bulb off above about 18 lux, so it stays dark through the day. After dusk it switches on when the infrared eye sees movement and shuts off again once the movement ends.
Choose it over the 9 watt bulb for a garage, a driveway or a long hallway, where the extra 300 lumens show up.

What it will not do
It needs a clear view. A frosted or closed glass shade blocks the infrared eye.
It is not dimmable.
It will not act as a timer. It only answers movement after dark.

This bulb was installed in a lamp base on the ceiling of my garage. It turns on and off for no reason. When I enter the garage from the house at night it's likely on and it turns off when I enter. I wave my arms in the dark and it turns back on, but turns off after 20 seconds even while I'm moving around. It works exactly the opposite of what was expected.

I have roommates and they are terrible with leaving the lights on all the time, and doesnt matter how many times I twll them to "turn the fn lights off"... so next best thing was putting these motion sensor bulbs on the stairs and in the front entrance along with laundry area. Switch stays on so any little movement from them it turns on.
